AA Degree in Ornamental Horticulture. Attended Landscape Architecture program at UCSC. Landscape instructor for ten years including Cabrillo College.

Director and Associate Director for twenty years on the Santa Cruz County Resource Conservation District Board. Chairman of the Continuing Education Professional Growth for Certified Professional Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Specialists worldwide. Served on the Cabrillo College Horticulture Advisory Committee since 1980. Owner of Hastings Landscape Conservation Services since 1979.
